Just a quick snap of a Rhino transport I was working on. Trying out some vehicle weathering techniques...

Scenic moments

So, I said I was making some bits of scenery recently. Here's some works in progress, some more complete than others.

Not quite sure what type of building this is. I just found some plans online for some foamcard buildings for 28mm scale. I roughed them up a bit once they were put together to give them a 41st millennium feel.

Again, same sort of thing. I will add a full guide when i get around to making another one of these complete with painting and weathering tips.

This one I had had in the undercoat stage for a while. Some kind of processing tank. A very early effort and might require a bit of extra detail to make it look good.

Once I got the buildings out the way with I decided the other tank needed some company and after a couple of beers (you can see where the cans went) I felt inspired to add some more processing units/tanks. These ones have a bit of detail added in the form of a fence and some panels on the front which I intend to add detail to with painting. Unfortunately the base started to warp once I'd used a bit of watered down PVA, ah well.

OMG - over a year since my last post!

Not that I have anyone actually following my posts...but it has been way too long. Needless to say I have been busy and distracted by a few things - including a new computer game in the shape of Final Fantasy 14. I loved the older Final Fantasy series, especially 7 and 8 but this jump to online gaming is a little boring I have to say, the story is pretty much the same all the way through, quest after quest after quest...

Anyway, I have also been painting the occasional model and recently completed s squad of Nobs from the Black Reach set. They're no actually bad models for 'free' boxed set ones, check out the pics in the Orks pages.

Currently in progress is a Space Marine Rhino, almost finished actually, just the detail on the driver/gunner and some weathering touch ups and it's ready for the table.

I've also been trying my hand at some scenery. After doing a little research into foamcore and where to get it in my city, I managed to knock up a couple of buildings from some very useful templates I found online. Add some extra details in the form of cereal packet card and a bit of weathering and they are already starting to look good. I'll add a guide for these when I build another as there seems to be a little knack for making all the bits fit properly. Check out the pics in the scenery section.

First commission!

Ok, so I'm not strictly being paid for it, but at least I get to paint a cool mini.
This one has been done for Streem here in São Paulo.

He wanted the Thunderbolt pilot from Forgeworld painted Star Wars Rebel pilot style. Came out pretty well.

I will add a page for imperial forces with more pics soon.

Seems as though I've not been doing anything for the last three months but that simply isn't true...three months, three minis. I admit, current pace is not what I would desire but life is demanding and painting minis is not the only thing I do in the world!

Check out the marines section for the latest updates - 2 veterans. I quite like the paint jobs but not so happy with the banners. May have to re-do them at some point but they will do for now.

I also thought a bit of a change as although I do want to complete the marines force, painting one black armoured marine after another can get somewhat tiresome so I tried my hand at the ork warboss from the AOBR boxed set. Not a bad first effort, one more to add to the portfolio....

Captain completed

Well, time is getting the better of me with a new job and a new member of the family arriving but I finally got around to some painting this month and managed to get the captain completed after months of only have his face done.

That now completes the HQ section for the moment, nice.

Dragon Claws...

After finally deciding how to put my 'piece de la resistance' together I ordered the tyranid parts needed for the spikey elbow bits. A little bit of modelling putty and super glue, a black undercoat, some silver bits and they already look pretty effective. A completed base with grass and rocks makes them ready for the table, should I wish to get them out before they're totally painted.

More vehicles...

Still not getting around to finish the tactical squad so worked on the dreadnought this month. Base is made from cork board and some model railway gravel stuff, turned out quite well in the end.

Also received a little parcel in the post with some tyranid bits in it, should be able to start on the Dragon Claws assualt squad fairly soon.

Bombardment

The tactical squad is taking a little longer than expected, plus it was boring me to hell doing all the same details over and again, so I started on something a little more interesting last month - the Whirlwind that should take out a few xenos before my troops arrive to clean up.

First squad ready

Finally got around to completing off the command squad. Took me a little while to muster up the energy to finish off the champion and the other veteran but it's done now and I'm already half way through a tactical squad.

Apothecary completed

I found this model (Games Day '98 Apothecary) on ebay uk. After a month of waiting, it finally arrived. Painted over a long weekend and added to the collection.

The other two veterans in the command squad are half completed so next post I will post up the pictures.

You might ask what I am doing up in the middle of the night...well, I am bored out of my wits waiting for a Network team at one of the biggest trading news companies in the world to pull hs finger out and do a friggin' telnet test!!!

First post

So this is my new blog. I started off a few months ago with an individual blog about a Space Marine army I am putting together. However, I realised I am going to be doing more than just painting a bunch of these guys ...

I started off playing and painting miniatures back in the days when Heroquest was first released from Games Workshop. I was hooked from day 1 and even had the computer game for my Spectrum 128k - even though it took half an hour to load the thing and even longer to play due to the rubbish keyboard controls.

I then got given Space Hulk for a birthday present and even though the Terminator-suited Space Marines that came standard in the box we aweful models, I started playing Warhammer 40k as well.

Although the games were fun, I always enjoyed more the hobby side of it - painting and creating rather than arguing pedantically over some obscure badly-worded rule in the 40k rulebook/codex. That being said I have recently returned to the hobby after a long spell away and started to learn to play again.

The rest of the site will show you my painting skills and some guides of painting and building scenery for mainly 40k landscapes. I have friends that play Flames of War and Infinity and other games so I might try to make some scenery for that as well.
